(Updated 11/19/08 at 2:27 PM)
On a certain Saturday, parents, teachers, and staff packed classrooms into boxes and loaded nine containers.
On a certain Saturday, we emptied containers, unpacked boxes, and moved back into classrooms.
On any Sunday, we worship, pray, and praise at our shared and separate sanctuaries.
On any weekday, parents, teachers, and staff give the gift of a Christ centered education. This is family.
We work, worship, learn, and play together. We experience God’s grace every moment and practice living in His love at Hope Lutheran School. We are a family.
On a certain Saturday I watched the fruits of Hope’s family play in the last volleyball game for Seattle Lutheran High School. My daughter was a part of the family during her elementary years at Hope and is now as a senior at SLHS. She has been marinated in Christ’s grace at Hope and it continues at SLHS. I watched with pride and joy. I am grateful that she is in this family. She has solid support for her next journey. My prayer is for you to experience family at Hope Lutheran School. It does not matter if you are here for one year or eleven, know this, you are family. My prayer is that Christ’s giving grace surrounds and immerses you and your child at Hope Lutheran School.
In Christ, Mrs. Norton
A SPECIAL INVITAION TO OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES OF HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH AND SCHOOL
Every Wednesday, Hope school has chapel over at West Seattle Christian Church. They are very gracious in letting us use their sanctuary during our time of construction. We would love to have you come worship with us on Wednesdays at 8:40 – 9:15AM. After chapel, Mr. Bob Matthews, (our Interim Administrator) will be leading a time of prayer. This is a wonderful opportunity to pray for the children and families of our school and church. Our next chapel is November 19. We hope to see you there!

GROW AUCTION – EXCITING NEWS! 11/4/08
There was a packed house at the Hall at Fauntleroy on Saturday night and the bidding was wild and exciting! We hope you all enjoyed yourselves and felt a great sense of community among other Hope families and friends!
We want to share that based on your INCREDIBLE generosity and support, our preliminary numbers show that the auction grossed over $80k in proceeds! Our expenses are estimated to be in the $20k range, for a total estimated net profit of $60k!! We’ve been told that this is one of the most successful auctions ever at Hope! So THANK YOU to each and every one of you for your participation in making this auction a success – it is a perfect example of how great things happen when we all work together. Because of YOU, a foundation has been laid toward funding this year’s and even next year’s PTH budget, giving the PTH the ability to support many programs that directly benefit our children, the faculty and staff.
We want to especially thank the Auction Committee, who worked extremely hard in the past few weeks to pull this event together: Angela Nichols, Brook Mason, Holly Bauman, Leighellen Landskov, Mary McFarlin, Myrna Burnett, Nikki Norberg, Rob McAllister, Sally Heit, Sharman McAllister and Sheryl Harrah - THANK YOU!! We truly feel blessed to be part of this amazing community called HOPE!

Hope Church Activities
"Giving Thanks" - Each Thanksgiving we think about all the things God has given to us, and we say thanks to Him. This is good, but He really likes it when we "give thanks" by sharing with those who are in need. Listed below are some ways your family can share with others.
Giving Food/Food Drive - to share with people who do not have enough money to buy food. Just bring your food gifts to school during November; then Hope's Human Care will take your food to our 2 local food banks. Recently many more people have been asking for food. Most of them are families with kids (70+%) or elderly people (25%). Canned goods (soup, vegetables, fruit, meat, etc), dry goods (rice, pasta, beans, cereal, etc) and baby items (formula, baby food, etc) are all welcome!
Giving Tree - Our traditional Christmas Giving Tree will start this year as a "thanks-giving" tree on Nov. 16. Look for a tree at the school and church offices. On the tree will be tags listing things needed (or wanted) by children from West Seattle public schools or from elders at WS nursing homes who no longer have anyone to give them a gift. They are screened for need. You provide their only Christmas gifts. Just pick a tag and bring the un-wrapped gifts back on Dec. 8. Your "gifts of thank’s" will also give love to someone at Christmas.
